Just wondering why you guys are advocating that it’s just fine to drink. You do get a buzz from drinking wine. Makes me feel different when ministries are partaking of alcoholic beverages. Don’t make your brother stumble.

The Bible doesn’t say that drinking is a sin. It does say drinking to excess is, but it also speaks of gluttony in Proverbs 23:20. The point was to not over indulge, which leads to slothfulness and debauchery. A couple of photos of unopened wine that were on the tables of an inauguration dinner is not condoning drunkenness. Offering a glass of wine to someone you know to have a drinking problem, that would definitely fall more in line in making your brother stumble. Understanding the difference between these two distinct things is important. Someone who would see this photo and claim it made them stumble is someone who is looking to cast off responsibility for their own actions.
